Hey there, my name is Paul Marino and I’m gonna be your pickleball doctor. I’m a doctor of physical therapy with my doctorate from the University of Montana in 2018 through the Rehab Essentials program. My original physical therapy degree was from Georgia State University in 1991. My post-graduate credentials include Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a credentialed provider of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the spine by the McKenzie Institute, USA, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer by National Strength and Conditioning Association and The American Institute of Fitness Educators.
During my career I have had the privilege of traveling across America teaching continuing education classes for physical therapists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and personal trainers.
My career has also included working in one of Georgia's largest healthcare systems in the hospital setting where I was able to work with post operative orthopedic patients alongside some of the state's most talented surgeons in both the acute and outpatient phases of rehabilitation.
After leaving the hospital system I was able to assist in founding a new physical therapy practice which was eventually acquired by the Arthur Blank family of business which then became an Atlanta Falcons Physical Therapy Center.
It has been a long, wonderful ride since beginning my career as a physical therapist and I have been fortunate to have some spectacular athletes from professional sports including the
NFL,
MLB,
and the WNBA.
College athletes form all divisions of athletics including NCAA football teams, baseball teams, swimmers, divers, track and field. I have even worked with former Olympic athletes, American ninja warriors, triathletes, NASCAR drivers, WWE wrestlers, Harlem Globetrotters, Major motion picture stuntmen, as well as countless high school and recreational athletes.
I would like to proudly include my military service as combat medical specialist in the US Army as part of the 18th Airborne Corp and Georgia National Guard as part of a military hospital forward support battalion.
Today, I’m asking you to consider allowing me to help you stay healthy and fit as part of the nation's growing obsession with Pickleball.
I hope to answer your questions about how to both prevent and recover from various pickleball related injuries. We'll talk about lots of other things related to your health and life as a pickleball athlete.
Thanks for tuning in and let's do this together!
After 25+ years of tennis, my wife and I are now dedidicated pickleball players. The injuries are more similar than the games!
